From The Mind Of Adi #18: Chris
Rose's Firsts
Firsts: Sh*te that happened before other sh*te happened.
Today: Car Stereo (Wars)'s Firsts! I hope you enjoyed my personal Firsts and James Petralli from White Denim's Firsts. This time, we examine what inspired Car Stereo (Wars) (a.k.a. mash-up guru Chris Rose) through the years. Car Stereo (Wars) spins the beats at Beauty Bar this Saturday the 17th.

- 1st favorite song: "Black or White" - Michael Jackson. I think I was pretty excited that Macaulay Culkin was in the video.
- 1st favorite musician or band: This is a pretty tough one between MC Hammer and Kris Kross. I remember Jump Roping for Heart a lot to both of them. Probably Kris Kross more though. My aunt made me sweat suit pajamas with puffy paint that said "Kris Kross" one time.
- 1st cassette tape purchased: Dangerous - Michael Jackson
- 1st concert attended: Ray Charles. I was like 3 and barely remember it.
- 1st concert attended in Austin (if different from above): Oh man...this is embarrassing. It was The Juliana Theory at Emo's when I was 16. I came down with friends and my mom to visit UT. And I didn't even end up getting to stay for the show.
- 1st CD purchased: Yes! I have a great answer for this one. Or a sad one. It was Shaquille O'Neal' Shaq Diesel. I guess I was a huge Shaq fan at the time. I remember doing a book report on some unauthorized biography of his in elementary school. The song "Shoot Pass Slam" is still great!

- 1st album downloaded: I think it was Nimrod - Green Day on Napster. But it just as easily could have been Beaucoup Fish - Underworld.

- 1st mash-up you heard: I guess it was probably "Never Scared" - Hollertronix...if that counts. That was at least the first kind of thing like that that I really took to.
- 1st mash-up by you: "Ghostface Observatory"
- 1st live performance: Spider House, with mostly borrowed records. a little under 4 years ago.
- 1st national (or international) tour: Well, I haven't really done a "National Tour." The Hood Internet and myself did a little three city tour a couple months ago and I have played randomly in various places. I'm thinking about trying to do a tour in April. Internationally, I played in a few places in Europe last summer.
- 1st "something" I didn't ask you about: 1st soccer team name: Ghostbusters
