Today: David Garza’s Firsts! This time, we examine what inspired veteran musician David Garza.   • 1st favorite song: “Happy Birthday To You.”

     

  • 1st favorite musician or band: Trio Los Panchos / Stevie Wonder (tie).

     

  • 1st vinyl purchased: Pat Benatar - Hell Is For Children.

     

  • 1st album recorded on a cassette tape: Led Zeppelin - III.

     

  • 1st cassette tape purchased: blank 90 minute Memorex to record Zeppelin III.

     

  • 1st concert attended: Billy Squier & Fastway, Reunion Arena, Dallas, TX, Oct. 19th, 1984.

     

  • 1st CD purchased: Beleza Tropical (VA) in 1991.

     

  • 1st album downloaded: Neville Brothers - Yellow Moon

     

  • 1st personal band: The Shadows (Irving, TX, 1984) -- played Stray Cats & The Clash covers at talent show -- got 4th place.

     

  • 1st recording: “Mary Had A Little Lamb” -- age 3. My mom was the producer/engineer/A&R scout.

     

  • 1st live performance: “De Colores” at a church reception -- duet with my mom on maracas & vocals -- age 10.

     

  • 1st national (or international) tour: 1994 -- across the U.S.A. -- 35 gigs opening for Better Than Ezra -- "it was good woah woah oh oh" touring with that incredible band.

     

  • 1st "something" I didn't ask you about: “What was the first video I ever loved on MTV?” -- Quiet Riot -- “Bang Your Head (Metal Health)”
