A farewell tour last summer with brother Alan paid tribute to departed Sun City Girl Charles Gocher and effectively signaled the end of the Arizona trio’s nearly three-decade run. A wave of catharsis later, his latest release, The Freak of Araby (Drag City), is another nomadic, lightning-speed race with the devil, Bishop’s playing more fluid and furious than ever. In the studio, he enlisted the help of three Arab players. On the road, openers Oaxacan back him."
