FUN FUN FUN FEST ANNOUNCES DATES FOR 2012 EVENT AT AUDITORIUM SHORES

“The defining tone of the festival was friendly, chaos-free…communal appreciation.” –Rolling Stone Nov, 2011

“This year, we wondered if they could pull it off with much bigger bands, crowds and stakes. They absolutely did. They should start selling tickets to next year today.” – Austin American Statesman Nov, 2011

AUSTIN, TX (December 8, 2011) – Fun Fun Fun Fest announced today that it will be hosting the 7th annual Fun Fun Fun Fest at Auditorium Shores on November 2, 3, and 4 in the fall of 2012. In 2011, the 3-day event was the largest in its six-year history, showing over 35% growth in attendance and over 700 total jobs created. Festival organizers reported that the event growth helped add $5.35 million in tourism dollars to the local economy.

In the 2011 move to Auditorium Shores, festival promoters were able to work with an increased footprint, larger capacity, and more central location – while maintaining the intimate feel of the festival. In this move, they also were successfully able to increase bike usage, decrease parking pressure on the neighborhood, improve line wait times, and improve sound attenuation by day.

“We are very excited to solidify our move to Auditorium Shores and continue hosting Fun Fun Fun Fest in downtown Austin – this is where we live and work every day” said James Moody, Festival promoter. “I am an 11 year resident of Bouldin Creek, and I look forward to working with stakeholders to make this event better for the community, year after year”.

Fun Fun Fun Fest has grown every year since its inception, focusing primarily on new music discovery, underground acts, and throwback favorites in a wide range of tastes and genres, including indie, hip hop, folk, comedy, punk, metal, and more. Ticket sale reports from 2011 confirm that 2011 was the biggest year ever, drawing 45% of attendees from Austin, 41% from Texas, 13% from the U.S. outside of Texas, and 1% from other countries.

FUN FUN FUN FEST AND PITCHFORK ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP: FESTIVAL TO LIVE STREAM NOV 4-6 ON PITCHFORK.COM

FOUR STREAMS PROVIDE A DIFFERENT MUSIC EXPERIENCE CATERED TO YOUR FAVORITE GENRES – FROM INDIE, METAL AND PUNK TO HIP HOP, ELECTRO, & MORE

AUSTIN, TX (October 31, 2011) – Fun Fun Fun Fest and Pitchfork announced today that the 6th annual festival in Austin, Texas will be streaming live on pitchfork.com November 4 – 6, 2011. This will be the first time ever that the music of Fun Fun Fun Fest, one of the most progressive independent music festivals in the country, will be available to those outside of Austin, and live.

Unlike other music festivals with similar live streams, Fun Fun Fun Fest will present 4 separate streams with each tailored to different musical tastes, streamed live on one of the most widely read music websites in the world that reaches 3.3 million unique visitors each month. Like the Fun Fun Fun Fest stage setups, each stream will provide a different musical experience, from punk and metal to indie rock and electronica, from bounce and hip hop to competitions and comedy. Fans will be able to toggle the streams to cater to their favorite styles of music, thanks to smart, the quirky, irreverent car.

When asked about the new partnership, Pitchfork had this to say: "Fun Fun Fun Fest has absolutely become one of the great festivals in the country, one that shares the same spirit of adventurous booking and music- and fan-community focus that we bring to our own Pitchfork Music Festival and our other events," said Pitchfork President Chris Kaskie. "Pitchfork has produced a number of live streams in recent years, and we're thrilled to be producing the Fun Fun Fun Fest live stream this year, for the first time bringing the festival to music fans outside of Austin."

Pitchfork Fun Fun Fun Fest Live Stream Schedule

  • Friday, Nov 4th at 12:20pm Central
  • Saturday, Nov 5th at 12:10pm Central
  • Sunday, Nov 6th at 12:15pm Central

To check out the Fun Fun Fun Fest live stream on Pitchfork, go to www.pitchfork.com. The stream will begin at these times:

“We are thrilled to be working with Pitchfork and smart on bringing what we do every year to more underground and progressive music fans around the world. Pitchfork and Transmission have always focused on many of the same acts, ideas, and trends – they are a like-minded group of people and it’s exciting to see us working together in such an innovative way. Plus, we get to bring a little more Slayer and Turquoise Jeep to the PF pages, which is nice,” said Transmission Principal James Moody.

Dallas will also host an official FFF Scavenger Hunt (produced by the Grenada Theater), and other scavenger hunts will be announced in more Texas markets soon. AUSTIN, TX (August 1, 2011) –: Fun Fun Fun Fest is proud to announce the current lineup for the 6th annual Fun Fun Fun Fest to be held November 4 – 6, 2011 at Auditorium Shores in Austin, TX.

The Transmission Entertainment team, who produces Fun Fun Fun Fest, once again has delivered on an exciting and genre-blurring (from hip hop to indie rock, punk rock to dance, metal to comedy) mix of old and new acts, while keeping their reputation for being a festival offering a unique genre based stage system, rarely-seen performances, newly discovered talent, and anticipated reunions.

The 2011 headliners include everything from indie dance darlings Passion Pit to heavy metal gods Slayer, from hip hop legends Public Enemy to punk icons The Damned. This year, FFF reunions include Hot Snakes, who disbanded in 2005 at the height of their popularity, Hum, who have not been consistently active as a recording or touring group since 2000, and Glenn Danzig playing Misfits songs for the first time in years with original Misfits guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein. More bands are planned to be added to the full FFF line up in Aug/Sep.

When asked about this year’s event, Graham Williams, FFF Founder had this to say: “It’s been so hard to keep the lid on everything we have been working on, there are so many exciting bands and acts this year, and so many more to come.” He added “This is clearly the best bill we have ever put together, and I can’t wait to watch it all happen in November.”

Weekend passes are on sale now, including PIP (Pretty Important People) passes. Single day passes, band set times, student discounts and more will be coming in September. Stay tuned for plenty of opportunities to win tickets in the member’s area at funfunfunfest.com, during Fun Fun Fun Fest’s infamous and annual Scavenger Hunt, the newly added Fun Fun Fun Olympics, and on Twitter/Facebook outlets.

As always, Fun Fun Fun Fest will be working with Austin’s favorite local food and fashion vendors, dedicated to delivering a true Austin Experience for locals and travelers alike.

‘X’ will no longer be performing at Fun Fun Fun Fest as previously announced, as they are on a new tour. They have been replaced by legendary gothic punk band, The Damned, known for being the first UK punk rock group to release a single, an album, to have a record on the UK music charts and to tour the US.
